About the series "Lyca`s song"

Jeg vil presisere at alle mine bilder kan og skal tolkes fritt ut fra betrakterens ståsted. 

Likevel ser jeg at mange har glede av å høre hva som har inspirert meg til å skape, og for dere som ønsker å lese om min inspirasjonskilde, kan dere lese den her.

I serien «Canticum Lyca`s» møter jeg «The little girl lost» og «The little girl found» skrevet av den engelske poeten William Blake. Jeg har også lyttet til den østerriske komponisten Georg Gottschamels musikalske tolkning av diktet, «Lyca`s song», som berører meg gjennom klanger og melankoli. Arbeidene mine er fritt oppstått, men gjennom arbeidsprosessen knytter jeg disse kunstnerne til prosjektet fordi de «støtter meg» og forsterker det jeg ønsker å uttrykke.

 

I Blakes dikt kan jeg gjenkjenne min egen historie, frigjøring og møte med egen «voksenhet». Lycas vei går gjennom farefullt terreng, i møte med ville dyr. Min egen løsrivelse fra foreldre og røtter, det trygge miljøet og møte med det «ukjente» ble for meg krevende og utfordrende. Fra det sårbare og uskyldige barnet skulle jeg ut og møte erfaringene i livet, lik som Lyca.

For meg representerer Lyca jordens og menneskets sjel. Jeg føler sameksistens og fellesskap med henne, og i dette «fellesskapet» er verkene «Lycas sang», «Løsrivelse», «Sjelens bosted», «Mot oppvåkning», «Trøst» og «Den vidunderlige hagen» blitt til. 

«Den vidunderlige hagen» bekrefter et etterlengtet håp. Håpet om at jorden og mennesket skal våkne fra sin søvn, at mennesker gjennom erfaring finner tilbake til hverandre og lever i harmoni blant alt levende.
Diktet «The little girl found» er profetisk, og det hele ender godt.

In my search for human identity, I meet poets and composers whose ideas and artistic expression touch me.

The series "Canticum Lyca`s" is inspired by the poem "Lyca`s song" written by the English poet William Blake. I have also chosen to listen to the Austrian composer Georg Gottschamel's musical interpretation of the poem.

 

"Lyca`s song" is about the girl who "leaves" her parents and meets her own "adulthood".

The poem can be interpreted as a liberation and an awakening. Lyca symbolizes the soul of the earth and man.

My interpretation of "Lyca`s song" are these six works ("Lyca's Song", "The abode of the Soul", "Consolation", "Detachment", "Towards awakening» and «The harmonious Garden»).

The works show the child from detachment to an independent individual.

 

Blake's poems tell about Lyca's path through dangerous terrain in the face of wild animals, a parallel to what 

young people experience today.

Many forces challenge us on who we should be, and children and young people need awareness and support in building their identity.

The poem is prophetic and ends well, there is a hope that the "earth" will wake up from its sleep and again become a harmonious garden for all living things in line with our wishes today with climate commitment and change of values.
