Jubilee of Hope - Childhood Memory I, II, III

Her artistic research rotates around spiritual and existential themes, and aims at highlighting how

art and faith can come together in a joint space of reflection and hope, able to go beyond religious

or national limits. In the last year she has been busy with an important artistic project "Home: the

Land of Silence", which covers themes such as belonging and reconciliation and, from 2026, she will

hold a workshop in collaboration with a sociologist and author, which will take place in different

Norwegian churches. Here, art, existential questions and social thinking will meet in a space open

to sharing. In her profound journey of expressive research, Kari Elisabeth Haug wants to show how

art, as creative gesture, is able to go beyond the mere representation of reality, as it is able to

question, transfigure and inquire, capturing elements which evade the daily, and open up towards

hope intended not as naive optimism, but as tension toward something that transcends the image.

In this chaotic and violent historical time, art becomes a vehicle for hope and faith, intended at large

as agnostic, as value which reminds us that there can be light in the darkness, and that beauty will

keep on shining.

La sua ricerca artistica ruota attorno a tematiche spirituali ed esistenziali ed è volta ad evidenziare

come l’arte e la fede possano incontrarsi in uno spazio condiviso di riflessione e speranza capace di

andare al di là dei confini religiosi o nazionali. Nell’ultimo anno è impegnata in un importante

progetto artistico “Home: the Land of silence” che verte su tematiche come appartenenza e

riconciliazione e dal 2026 partirà un seminario, in collaborazione con un sociologo e autore, che

avrà luogo in diverse chiese norvegesi. Qui arte, interrogativi esistenziali e pensiero sociale si

incontreranno in uno spazio aperto alla condivisione. Nel suo profondo percorso di ricerca

espressiva Kari Elisabeth Haug ha voluto dimostrare come l’arte, in qualità di gesto creativo, è

capace di andare oltre la semplice rappresentazione della realtà perché è in grado di interrogarla,

trasfigurarla, scrutarla, captando elementi che sfuggono alla misura del quotidiano e che si aprono

verso la speranza intesa non come ingenuo ottimismo ma come tensione verso qualcosa che

trascende l’immagine. In questo periodo storico caotico e violento l’arte si fa portavoce di speranza

e veicolo di fede, intesa in senso ampio, laico, come valore che ci ricorda che nel buio può esserci

luce e che la bellezza continua a risplendere.
